Abstract

The article tries to evaluate the Agricultural Property Agency’s to-date activity regarding its statutory duties, the disposal of agricultural property owned by the state treasury, in particular. The sale of real estate is the dominant form of disposal. Since the start of its operation the Agricultural Property Agency has permanently disposed of a total of 2.6 million hectares of land. The remaining 2.1 million hectares are in the process of further privatisation. The land for sale comes mainly from the terminated lease contracts. Every year the area of land used under lease contracts diminishes by about 100,000 ha. The authors based their analysis on the data included in the Agricultural Property Agency’s activity reports, on internal studies and available scientific literature. The presented results attest to the Agency’s major involvement in the process of permanent disposal of the state treasury’s agricultural property, considering the restrictions that relate to the Agricultural Property Stock.
