This article attempts to present and classify rural peripheral areas in Poland on the basis of their socio-economic structure. It identifies several characteristic features of the peripheral regions’ development and demonstrates their importance for the formulation of local development strategies essentially based on internal factors (in accordance with the concept of endogenous development).Downloads
